Founders and Directors of Reachout Ministries Gary & Laura Sherwood first visited Guatemala in November 2004. The country and the people touched our hearts and we could not wait to return. In November the following year we lead a team of 6 people back to Chiquimula and feel in love with this land and its people.
Our contact in Guatemala is Mr Otto Bonilla, we work alongside Otto in the town of Chiquimula. Chiquimula is 3 1/2 hours East of Guatemala City.
Since we have come to work in Guatemala we have come to understand for ourselves the meaning of poverty. These families lack money and food, good housing and an education. Whole communities have a great lack of hope for the future.
As our work developed we decided to set up our own Ministry which we called "REACHOUT", as this is what we want to do for the people of this land, Reachout and help in whatever way we can.
Reachout was lauched in January 2006. Shortly after we gained our registered charity status.
We hope you enjoy our website and thanks for looking.
